Houston Rockets shooting guard Eric Gordon underwent an MRI on his right knee on Monday and the sharpshooter says he has a contusion and swelling in it.
Eric Gordon won’t play on Monday against the Memphis Grizzlies. The veteran guard told Mark Berman of Fox 26 that he believes the injury is going to be more short term than long, which is good news if you are the Rockets since they have been playing really good basketball as of late.

In 32 games this season, Eric Gordon is averaging 15.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game for Houston. The 30-year-old is shooting 38.1 percent from the field, 30.3 percent from beyond the arc and 77.8 percent from the free-throw line.
Gordon will likely miss Thursday’s game against the Golden State Warriors as well, which means Houston is going to have to rely on high-flyer Gerald Green more than usual. Green is putting up 7.6 points this season and shooting 39.8 percent from the floor.
With Rockets All-Star point guard Chris Paul out with a hamstring injury, Eric Gordon is arguably the third most important player on the team right now behind reigning MVP James Harden and big man Clint Capela. Gordon is third on the team in points per game.
