Rockets’ Daryl Morey tweets his congratulations to the Warriors

Daryl Morey, Rockets, Warriors

Last year, the Houston Rockets claimed that they would have won the Western Conference Finals series against the Golden State Warriors if point guard Chris Paul did not get hurt in the last two games. This year, the defending champion Warriors vanquished the Rockets, again, but this time, with a healthy Paul and Golden State missing its best player and leading scorer, Kevin Durant.

With the way the Rockets squandered this opportunity to finally knock off their conference rivals, GM Daryl Morey had nothing else to do but to congratulate the Warriors for their unbelievable series-clinching victory in Game 6 in Houston.

Add some “The Wire” reference to boot with that quote.

The Rockets indeed gave it their best shot. They did come at the Kings of the NBA for the past two seasons, and they were vocal about wanting to take down the champs. They gave the Warriors all they can handle through these two classic series thus far. Unfortunately, they just could not get it done.

Morey had been vocal about the officiating at the beginning of the series. He also spear-headed an audit report of referees’ missed calls during Game 7 of last year’s Conference Finals. This season, he had nothing more to say.

With Durant going down in the third quarter of Game 5, Houston failed to capitalize and snatch one on the road against Golden State. In Game 6, in front of their hometown crowd, the Rockets’ world ultimately came crashing down after Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson reigned down dagger three-pointers on them repeatedly in the fourth quarter.

Good for you on this one, Daryl. Sometimes, you just gotta tip your hat to greatness.
