Rockets could be interested in Grayson Allen

Grayson Allen

The Houston Rockets have a ton of veteran talent, but one thing about their rotation players is they cost a lot of money. One way for a team to fill out rosters, though, is with young talented guys, that come cheap while being able to provide a lot of value.

According to Kelly Iko of Rockets Wire, one of the guys that Houston is looking at is Grayson Allen from the Duke Blue Devils.

“One such name they have expressed interest in is Duke guard Grayson Allen, the people told Rockets Wire. Houston is also prepared to move up from the 46th pick, and will be exploring the possibility of draft-day trades. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to publicly comment on the team’s plans for the draft.”

Coming out of college, most pundits believed that Allen was a second-round pick, probably towards the end of the round, but he has really impressed during the combine and in individual workouts. As such, chances are he won’t be around when the 46th pick rolls around.

Allen is now projected to be a mid-to-late first round pick, so for the Rockets to move up that far, they are going to have to give up a good amount to trade up.

Allen had a really nice career at Duke, but it was often overshadowed by some of his antics on the court. He had developed a tendency to trip players for no reason at all and a lot of them looked intentional. But during Allen’s senior year, his maturity seemed to have improved.
