Rockets’ Chris Paul says Nuggets’ Jamal Murray doesn’t have any ceiling
The recent brilliant showing of Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray has earned him a heap of praise from a future Hall of Famer point guard. Houston Rockets All-Star Chris Paul says Murray doesn’t have any ceiling at all. Paul and the Rockets face Murray’s Nuggets at Denver on Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old Jamal Murray is leading the Nuggets in scoring this year. The Canadian spitfire guard is averaging 18.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists during the Nuggets’ excellent start this season. He also recently lit up a defensive-oriented Boston Celtics team with a career-high 48 points on 63 percent shooting from the field.
Interestingly, Murray was included in a rumored trade that would have shipped him to the Cleveland Cavaliers for superstar Kyrie Irving. The Cavs wanted him and shooting guard Gary Harris for the deal to get done. The Nuggets’ front office ultimately denied the offer as they were not willing to part ways with their young guards.
Yes, it’s a big what-if for a small-market team like Denver. Irving’s name alone could have been a huge boon with the fans, and an Irving-Nikola Jokic partnership could have been a potent one. But the Nuggets are in a good place now, and the versatility Jamal Murray and Gary Harris bring on both ends of the floor is important for the team.
However, head coach Mike Malone has some work cut out for him. After starting the season with a 9-1 record, the Nuggets have been on a three-game slide since.
