Rockets’ Chris Paul reacts to suspension after spit from Lakers’ Rajon Rondo
Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul made his first public comments Tuesday after the fight that took place Saturday night at Staples Center which involved him and Los Angeles Lakers guard Rajon Rondo.
Paul was suspended two games for poking at and making contact with the face of Rondo and throwing multiple punches at him. Rondo spit in Paul’s face first. Paul then put his finger in Rondo’s eye, and then all hell broke loose.
“I try to pride myself on trying to stay as poised as possible,” Paul said Tuesday. “You know, in a situation like that, I got put in a situation where I got suspended. You try to prevent that at all costs. That’s tough. Somebody spit on you. To play this long and that’s never happened. Unfortunately, I can’t be out there for my teammates and that’s probably the toughest part.”

The Rockets lost to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night, the first game of Chris Paul’s suspension. Houston takes on the Utah Jazz Wednesday night at home. Paul will return to the lineup Friday when the Rockets host the Clippers.
Chris Paul was put in a tough situation Saturday. The guy was spit on. There’s no one in the world who wouldn’t react the way he did if they got spit in the face by someone. It was just an overall ugly scene at Staples Center.
In the two games he has played in this season, Chris Paul has averaged 23.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists while shooting 51.7 percent from the field, 46.2 percent from beyond the arc and 78.6 percent from the free-throw line.
