Rockets’ Chris Paul fools Hornets with no-look pass to Clint Capela

Chris Paul, Clint Capela, Rockets

Chris Paul of the Houston Rockets displayed his supreme vision against the Charlotte Hornets with a no-look pass to Clint Capela.

Observe the clip below, posted by NBA TV. Paul surprised the Hornets’ defense after pulling off an unorthodox pass to Capela, who was rolling to the rim.

Paul, 33 years old, has taken on a different role with the Rockets. He is no longer the ball-heavy guard we saw with the L.A. Clippers. He adjusted his game accordingly to let James Harden orchestrate and run plays.

Despite this reality, there are moments when Chris Paul unleashes his old self, as shown in the clip above. Pick and rolls were a default play with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. As one of the smartest guys in the league, Paul has mastered the play. Back in the day, once Paul saw even a small opening, he wouldn’t hesitate to throw it up for a lob.

For the season, he is averaging 15.4 points per game, 8.3 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.0 steals across 32.7 minutes. Thanks to his efforts, the Rockets have climbed back from the bottom tier in the West all the way to the third seed.

With under 20 games remaining in the season, the Rockets are safely in playoff position. If all goes well, they’ll end up as the third seed, putting the “3” in CP3.
