Rockets’ Carmelo Anthony not taking part in Klay Thompson’s BIG3 tease

Carmelo Anthony, Klay Thompson

Houston Rockets forward Carmelo Anthony is not buying into Klay Thompson’s ideal BIG3 championship team, based on his comment on the Instagram post that featured him alongside Tracy McGrady, Luke Walton, and Thompson at the Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar.

In good ol’ Melo fashion, the 15-year veteran commented “F**k outta here” — clearly in disagreement with the idea of joining Ice Cube’s league after his NBA days are over.

Ice Cube joked that the contracts were lined up and would only require a signature when they’re ready, but if this team of lethal scorers-plus-Walton comes together, it won’t be for a while.

Thompson is in the prime of his career, fresh off winning three championships in four years and a summer away from a max contract with the Golden State Warriors.

Anthony finally landed in his desired spot in Houston, hoping to get a championship alongside friend Chris Paul and league MVP James Harden.

McGrady and Walton, though retired, hold important positions in their post-basketball lives. T-Mac is one of ESPN’s up-and-coming NBA analysts and a constant fixture on “The Jump” with Rachel Nichols.

Walton is heading into his third year as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers after a few seasons as an understudy assistant under Steve Kerr with the Warriors — making this ensemble one that will require a long wait, and a change of mind from Melo’s part.
