Rockets’ Carmelo Anthony condemns Lakers guard Rajon Rondo’s action against Chris Paul

Carmelo Anthony was within arms reach of his banana boat buddy and Houston Rockets teammate Chris Paul when the latter got into a fist fight with Los Angeles Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo Saturday night.

Everyone was shocked at how things transpired between the two floor generals as they weren’t even the concerned parties when the tension at Staples Center began. It was actually Brandon Ingram and James Harden who got into it quick after a fastbreak collision which the Lakers forward did not like.

Just as the two had seemingly cooled off, Paul and Rondo exchanged blows. Post-game reports indicate that Paul alleges Rondo had spit on him, starting the fracas. This act did not sit well with Rockets forward Carmelo Anthony, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

“That’s unacceptable, unacceptable. That’s blatant disrespect.”

Anthony is spot on. No competitors should ever reach this low point. Chris Paul told ESPN that Rajon Rondo did spit on him, sparking the entire situation to escalate.

Suspensions are sure to be handed on both teams — particularly, Paul, Rondo, and Ingram. For his part, Carmelo Anthony kept his cool as he elected to pull away Ingram from it all despite landing a punch to his teammate and friend.

The Rockets came away victorious over the Lakers at Staples Center. Chris Paul led the visiting team with 28-points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists. Rajon Rondo had a solid game himself with 13 points, seven rebounds, 12 assists, and two steals.
