Houston Rockets guard Brandon Knight suffered a torn ACL in July 2017. Since then, the Miami native has undergone three “cleanup” procedures — the most recent one (Sept. 20) stemming from an infection. As of now, there is still no timetable for his return.
Rockets general manager Daryl Morey provided an official update on Knight’s status Friday morning, noting that he is continuing to rehab his knee.

As a result of the infection in his knee, Knight was forced to miss training camp and the preseason.
The Rockets acquired Knight and Marquese Chriss on Aug. 31 by way of a trade with the Phoenix Suns. As part of the deal, Houston sent Ryan Anderson and De’Anthony Melton to the Suns. Chriss is currently sidelined with a sprained left ankle.
Knight, now 26 years of age, missed all of last season following ACL surgery. However, he made 54 appearances with the Suns during their 2016-17 regular-season campaign, racking up averages of 11.0 points on 39.8 percent shooting from the field (32.4 percent from beyond the arc), 2.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds in 21.1 minutes per outing.
When Knight is well enough to play again, he’ll likely be competing for backcourt minutes off the bench. Michael Carter-Williams and Eric Gordon can pick up the slack while Knight recovers.
The Rockets will be back in action on Saturday night, when they’ll travel to Los Angeles for a matchup against the Lakers. Tip-off inside Staples Center is set for 10:30 p.m. ET with ESPN having live broadcast coverage.
