Rockets are 2nd team to beat Steve Kerr’s Warriors 3 times in a season

Steve Kerr, Rockets, Warriors

Despite the absence of reigning league MVP James Harden on Saturday night, the Houston Rockets were still able to defeat a full strength Golden State Warriors squad, 118-112. With the victory, the Rockets have achieved a noteworthy feat against the defending champs, as they are now just the second team to defeat the Dubs three times in a regular season in the Steve Kerr era.

This is definitely a remarkable achievement for the Rockets, who themselves fell to the Warriors after an epic seven-game series in the Western Conference Finals last season. Houston will have the bragging rights to the claim that out of Golden States’ 17 defeats this season thus far, three of them came at their hands.

Chris Paul was the floor general in this one, dishing out a season-high 17 assists against the Dubs. The 33-year-old veteran also scored 23 points on 7-of-18 shooting along with four 3-pointers and two steals in 36 minutes of play. That’s now back-to-back outstanding efforts from Paul, who flirted with a triple-double on Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers with 23 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists

The 6-foot point god appears to be coming into form following a rejuvenating All-Star break.

Eric Gordon was also awesome in the victory, dropping a team-high 25 points along with four 3-pointers, four assists, a steal and a block.

With the win, the Rockets are now 34-25, and are holding on to the fifth spot in a tightly-contested Western Conference Playoffs race.
