Report: Word on street is Joe Johnson signs with Houston Rockets

Joe Johnson

Joe Johnson was involved in a trade yesterday that sent him from the Utah Jazz to the Sacramento Kings, but his time on the Kings didn’t last long.

According to Chris Mannix of Yahoo! Sports:

Joe Johnson is expected to seek–and receive–a buyout from Sacramento, per sources, and will be coveted: Golden State, Boston will be among the early favorites.

There was a lot of speculation about where exactly where he would be going. It wasn’t a question of if he would get offers, it came down to him probably hand choosing which team he wanted to go to.

It appears that Johnson has made his decision:

Joe Johnson is a shell of the player he once used to be, but he is still a good player that will be able to offer the Houston Rockets another good bench piece that can shoot.

For the Jazz this season he averaged 21.9 minutes putting up 7.3 points 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists. His shooting from behind the arc has really been down averaging only 27.4 percent from deep.

With the Rockets he will be surrounded by other great shooters and will have Chris Paul to feed him the ball. It’s still unclear how many minutes he will get, but if he can hit one or two 3-pointers a night, it will be money well spent by the Rockets.

When exactly the Rockets will sign Johnson officially is still to be seen, but expect him to be suited up in the next few games for his new team.
