The Houston Rockets have had quite the eventful offseason, trading away Ryan Anderson and acquiring Carmelo Anthony via free agency. Last week, GM Daryl Morey posted a photo hanging out with former player Corey Brewer, hinting at the possibility of a reunion between the two parties.

According to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, however, there will no reunion (at least not yet) between Brewer and the Western Conference contending Rockets.

Brewer was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Oklahoma City Thunder last season, where he played 18 regular season games and six playoff games. He averaged 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 2.1 steals in 28.6 minutes per game for OKC. He played 196 games with the Rockets across three seasons from 2014-17, averaging 7.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 0.9 steals per game.
The Rockets’ moves haven’t exactly screamed contender considering their roster last season. They lost Trevor Ariza and replaced him with a less efficient Carmelo Anthony. They still have some moves to make with an overloaded roster, but they’re set to compete in a loaded West led by James Harden and Chris Paul for the next several years.
