Report: Rockets to sign G League star Danuel House to deal

Danuel House, Rockets

The Houston Rockets have been dealing with backcourt injuries through the early stages of this season. All-Star Chris Paul was held out of Saturday night’s game against the Cavs due to a sore left leg, and Brandon Knight is still recovering from a left knee injury. As a result, Houston is looking to make an addition. Their target, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, is Houston native Danuel House.

House, now 25 years of age, is a 6-foot-7 shooting guard who began his collegiate career at the University of Houston, where he earned Conference USA Freshman of the Year honors. As a sophomore, he led the Cougars in scoring and rebounding (13.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game).

After two years with the Cougars, House transferred to Texas A&M, where he averaged 16.2 points per game and earned first-team All-SEC honors as a junior.

Though he wasn’t selected in the 2016 NBA Draft, House has experience in the league. He has played for the Washington Wizards, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (Houston’s G League affiliate) and Phoenix Suns.

In 23 appearances with the Suns last season (three starts), House racked up averages of 6.6 points on 43.3 percent shooting from the field (25.9 percent from beyond the arc), 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 17.5 minutes per outing.

The Rockets will be back in action on Monday night, as they’re scheduled for a matchup against the Wizards in the nation’s capital. Tip-off inside Capital One Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. ET with NBA TV having live broadcast coverage.
