The Houston Rockets are making a renewed bid to acquire Minnesota Timberwolves small forward Jimmy Butler, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Rockets are prepared to offer the Timberwolves four future first-round picks in exchange for Butler, who has requested a trade from Minnesota.

The Rockets have had previous dialogue with the Timberwolves in regards to trading for Jimmy Butler. Minnesota head coach/president Tom Thibodeau is looking for a grand return for Butler, who is a four-time All-Star and one of the best two-way players in the league.
Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today reports that he’s heard there aren’t a lot of strict protections on the first-round picks.
I see the jokes about the protections on those first-round Rockets picks being offered to the Timberwolves, but I’m hearing that not every pick has outrageous protections. Let’s see how it shakes out.

Knowing Thibodeau, who has always been against rebuilding, he will probably ask the Rockets for shooting guard Eric Gordon and small forward P.J. Tucker as well. The Timberwolves could use a player like Gordon, who can stretch the floor and hit 3-pointers at a high clip. Minnesota was last in the NBA last season in made 3-pointers.
If the Rockets are able to acquire Jimmy Butler, they will have a lethal Big 3 in Butler, Chris Paul, and James Harden. Carmelo Anthony would be the No. 4 option on the team and, while he’s no longer the same player he once was, the veteran scorer can still produce in bunches when needed.
Jimmy Butler has played in four games this year. The 29-year-old swingman is averaging 24.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from beyond the arc.
