Report: Rockets, Knicks, Pelicans interested in Wade Baldwin

Wade Baldwin IV

Wade Baldwin IV is reportedly drawing interest from multiple teams after the Memphis Grizzlies waived the second-year point guard along with Rade Zagorac to cut their roster down to 15 players.

Darren Wolfson reports that the Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, and New Orleans Pelicans are among the teams who have expressed their interest in the ex-Grizzlies guard.

Baldwin, 21, had a disappointing rookie year for the Grizzlies after being drafted No. 17 overall out of Vanderbilt. He averaged 3.2 points and 1.8 assists on 31 percent shooting as he lost out the Grizzlies’ backup point guard role to Andrew Harrison.

The Rockets are in the market for another point guard after including Isaiah Taylor among their recent list of cuts.

The Pelicans are also in need of more point guard depth. Starter Rajon Rondo will be out a few more weeks after he underwent hernia surgery, while rookie Frank Jackson could be out until December after foot surgery.

Meanwhile, the Knicks don’t have as pressing a need at the position at the moment. They currently have three point guards on the roster with rookie Frank Ntilikina, Ramon Sessions, and Jarrett Jack. Although, Jack’s contract is non-guaranteed and could be cut to make way for the younger Baldwin.
