REPORT: Rockets expected to aggressively pursue Jimmy Butler
The Houston Rockets are expected to make a run at Philadelphia 76ers forward Jimmy Butler in free agency this summer.
Butler will become a free agent in July after opting out of the final year of his contract worth $19 million. And according to Brian Smith of the Houston Chronicle, the Rockets are already preparing to chase Butler who is expected to get a lot of calls when the free-agency period starts.
The Rockets will reportedly be “aggressive” in their pursuit of Butler because they feel the 29-year-old superstar would give them a boost on both ends off the floor.
Rockets are expected to pursue Butler and be aggressive in their pursuit. Seen as an ideal fit on both ends of court, and in helping push Rockets to the top of the wide-open West.

Certainly, acquiring Butler would make Houston the favorites to win the wide-open Western Conference. Butler is coming off a season during which he averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 46.2 percent from the field.
The former Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves swingman, however, has a reputation for his rather direct and sometimes toxic approach in the locker room — something which be a cause of concern while playing alongside James Harden.
Houston are reportedly in a mess right now after rumors about Chris Paul wanting to get traded start swirling around. According to speculations, the relationship between Harden and CP3 has soured, no thanks to the differences in their opinion on how the Rockets should play.
It remains to be seen if Houston can get Jimmy Butler, though signing the veteran will force them to trade Paul and his horrendous contract.
