Report: Rockets confident they will re-sign Chris Paul

Chris Paul

One of the biggest unrestricted free agents this summer is Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul.

CP3 played his first season with the Rockets last year and his injury in the Western Conference Finals may have been the only thing keeping the Rockets from winning the title.

Safe to say, the Rockets may want to run it back next season with as close to the same group as possible.

According to USA TODAY Sports, the Rockets are confident Paul will re-sign with them while they don’t think LeBron James will come to Houston.

It’s only natural to wonder if James might partner with his best friend and fellow free agent in Paul, and we’ve been wondering for six months or so if that might be the case. But while the Rockets appear resigned to the fact that James won’t be coming their way, they also remain fully confident that Paul is going nowhere.

The LeBron decision is what will make the Paul one easier for Houston. CP3 reportedly wants the max and Houston will be more willing to hand that out if they aren’t saving money for another max player like LeBron.

Paul George of the Thunder may be another option for Houston but as of now, it seems they are confident they can keep Paul and that may be all they can realistically do this summer.
