REPORT: Rockets confident Chris Paul will return in free agency

Despite the heartbreaking Game 7 loss in the Western Conference Finals, the Houston Rockets are still confident that their star point guard Chris Paul will return in free agency.

Paul, 33-years-old, is set to be a restricted free agent this summer. As reported by Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is confident that Paul will bounce back after a heartbreaking season.

He shared that the point guard was the most affected by the loss but is confident that he’ll be back:

“He took it the hardest, I thought, because he knew if he hadn’t had the unfortunate injury, he’s dragging us the last (way to the Finals),” Morey said Wednesday.

“He’s been there before at those moments and got injured sometimes. Yeah, he took it hard. But you know what, he’ll be back. He’ll be back 100 percent and we’re ready to go.”

Morey also commented on the possibility of adding LeBron James in the offseason. Many believe that he’s bound the leave Cleveland once again if they fail the win a ring this year. Though he didn’t comment specifically on their plans, he entertained the possibility of it, as reported by Stefano Fusaro of ESPN:

“My job is to look at everything, and we’ll explore that,” Morey said. “We’ve got our key people in coach D’Antoni, Tilman, James [Harden] and Chris. That group will have to be united on going after certain guys.”

It was a great regular season capped off by a disappointing end. Best believe that the Rockets and Morey will come out better than ever next season.
