REPORT: Rockets’ Chris Paul will play vs. Spurs

Chris Paul, Rockets,

After missing the previous three games with a hamstring injury, Houston Rockets All-Star point guard Chris Paul will make his return to the lineup Friday against the San Antonio Spurs.

Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni confirmed the news when speaking to reporters pregame.

Chris Paul has played in 15 games this season for the Rockets. The nine-time All-Star is averaging 17.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game while shooting 44.1 percent from the field, 37.8 percent from beyond the arc and 78.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The Rockets enter their matchup with the Spurs on a four-game losing streak, so the return of Chris Paul is huge. It’s been a struggle for Houston thus far this season. The team is just 9-11 on the year and averaging 108.2 points per game, 20th in the NBA. The Rockets scored the second-most points per game last season.

Reigning MVP James Harden has to be thrilled that his backcourt mate is back in action. Harden has been shouldering the offensive load with Paul out of the lineup and his turnover numbers have been off the charts. The star shooting guard has 28 turnovers in his last three games.

The Rockets are 9-6 in the 15 games Chris Paul has played in this season. Houston is hoping the return of CP3 will jumpstart the team on a winning streak.
