The Houston Rockets have agreed to a two-year deal with guard Austin Rivers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The deal includes a player option on the second year.
The Rockets picked Rivers up off waivers back in December. He proceeded to play in 47 games for Houston, averaging 8.7 points and 2.3 assists over 28.6 minutes per game while shooting 41.3 percent from the floor, 32.1 percent from 3-point range and 51.0 percent from the free-throw line.
He began the season with the Washington Wizards, but was then traded to the Phoenix Suns. The Suns then immediately waived him, clearing the way for him to sign with the Rockets.
Rivers, who played his collegiate basketball at Duke, was originally selected by the New Orleans Hornets with the 10th overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft.
He appeared in 61 contests during his rookie campaign, registering 6.2 points and 2.1 assists across 23.2 minutes a night while making 37.2 percent of his field goal attempts, 32.6 percent of his long-distance tries and 54.6 percent of his foul shots.
Rivers spent the first two and a half years of his career in New Orleans before being dealt to the Boston Celtics midway through the 2014-15 season, but he was then flipped to the Los Angeles Clippers.
The 26-year-old then went on to spend three and a half season with the Clippers, with his best season coming during the 2017-18 campaign when he recorded 15.1 points, 4.0 assists, 2.4 boards and 1.2 steals per game.
Los Angeles then ended up trading Rivers to the Wizards for big man Marcin Gortat last summer.
Rivers owns career averages of 9.2 points, 2.4 assists and 2.0 rebounds a night.
