Report: Rockets agree to 2-way deal with Demetrius Jackson

Demetrius Jackson

The Houston Rockets have agreed to a two-year deal with free agent point guard Demetrius Jackson, according to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders.

The deal will allow the Notre Dame product to further develop in the newly-established G-League, while earning an NBA salary when called up to the Rockets.

Jackson was drafted with the 45th overall pick by the Boston Celtics in last year’s draft, but was unable to garner playing time with a set-in-stone rotation by head coach Brad Stevens.

He put up 14.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game during his time with the Maine Red Claws last season, showing enough signs of progress to warrant a stint in Houston.

At 6-foot-2, Jackson displayed good composure and balance between his scoring and playmaking, but will need to develop more consistency on his shot and show improvements in his finishing ability to garner a spot in an NBA rotation.
