The Houston Rockets have acquired Russell Westbrook from the Oklahoma City Thunder for Chris Paul, first-round picks in 2024 and 2026 and pick swaps in 2021 and 2025, according to Royce Young and Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Russell Westbrook and James Harden have reunited on the Rockets. The two MVPs were teammates on the Thunder back in the day.
Westbrook has averaged a triple-double three seasons in a row. The Rockets now have one of the most lethal backcourt duos in NBA history with Westbrook and Harden together.
This past season, Westbrook averaged 22.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 10.7 assists. The explosive guard didn’t shoot that well from the floor, though. Russ shot 42.8 percent from the field, 29.0 percent from beyond the arc and 65.6 percent from the free-throw line.
The Rockets lost to the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the 2019 playoffs in six games. Since then, multiple reports have surfaced that Chris Paul and Harden haven’t been on the same page. Harden and Westbrook are basically like brothers off the court, so they will likely get along on the court.
Westbrook has four years left on his contract. The Miami Heat were aggressively trying to acquire Westbrook, but the Rockets beat them to the punch.
