REPORT: Ricky Rubio, Dante Exum out for Game 5 with hamstring strains

Dante Exum and Ricky Rubio

On Monday afternoon, the Utah Jazz got some bad news that they will be shorthanded once again without the services of point guards Ricky Rubio and Dante Exum for Tuesday night’s Game 5 against the Houston Rockets due to hamstring strains.

An official announcement was made by the team’s official Twitter account earlier today, as Rubio has missed the entire series so far and Exum was injured last night during the third quarter of Game 4.

This is a devastating blow for Utah, and Rubio said that he is having to watch his favorite television show “Friends” in order to cope with the nagging injury that will continue to keep him out of Jazz head coach Quin Snyder’s starting lineup.

“We’re really friends here,” Rubio said, via Christopher Kamrani of the Salt Lake Tribune. “You can really realize that the chemistry is building up. And it’s not just for now, in this moment. We have a really good group that we can go ahead and have good years of success, just because the foundation is so solid and so good that it can go forward.”

With Rubio inactive, Jazz rising star rooking shooting guard Donovan Mitchell has had to handle point guard duties and has struggled with his shot for much of the series, shooting 32.5 percent from the floor.

The Jazz, who are down 3-1 in their best-of-seven Western Conference Semifinals series against the Rockets following last night’s 100-87 loss at Vivint Smart Home Arena, will face a huge amount of adversity with hopes of forcing a Game 6 back in Salt Lake City.
