REPORT: Jeff Green signing with Rockets for rest of season

Rockets, Jeff Green

Jeff Green is reportedly signing with the Houston Rockets for the rest of the season, according to Jordan Schultz of ESPN.

Green initially signed a 10-day contract with the Rockets, giving him a chance to become comfortable with the fit in Houston before committing to a deal for the rest of the season.

Green is averaging 9.3 points and 3.0 rebounds with the Rockets in 18 minutes per contest. He is shooting 83.3 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from beyond the arc in the three games he has played in for the team

The Rockets added DeMarre Carroll and Jeff Green to bolster their defense in the wake of the Clint Capela trade. Houston now has PJ Tucker, Robert Covington, Carroll and Green as its wing defenders.

Green averaged 7.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in 30 games for the Utah Jazz this season before getting cut. He shot 38.5 percent from the field, 32.7 percent from beyond the arc and 77.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The 33-year-old forward has career NBA averages of 13.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 891 games with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers, Orlando Magic, Cleveland Cavaliers, Washington Wizards and Jazz. It is worth noting that he played with Rockets stars James Harden and Russell Westbrook in Oklahoma City.

The Rockets are 37-20 on the season and are in fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
