Report: James Harden, Russell Westbrook don’t travel to Orlando, will join team in near future

James Harden and Russell Westbrook didn’t travel with the Houston Rockets to Orlando on Thursday, per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

However, the MVPs will join the Rockets at Walt Disney World in the near future.

Before the 2020 playoffs begin, the Rockets will face the Dallas Mavericks, Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers and Philadelphia 76ers in the eight seeding games.

Houston has already virtually clinched a playoff spot. The team won 40 games before the season was suspended in March.

Prior to Rudy Gobert’s positive COVID-19 test, Harden was averaging 34.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 7.4 assists for the Rockets. The Beard was also shooting 43.5 percent from the field, 35.2 percent from beyond the arc and 86.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Westbrook, meanwhile, was putting up 27.5 points, 8.0 boards and 7.0 assists in his first season with the Rockets. The former Oklahoma City Thunder star was shooting 47.4 percent overall, 25.4 percent from the 3-point line and 77.7 percent from the charity stripe.

The Rockets franchise hasn’t advanced to the NBA Finals since acquiring Harden from the Thunder in 2012. Both Harden and Westbrook were able to work on their bodies and get rest during the NBA hiatus, so Rockets fans are looking forward to seeing how the two future Hall of Famers look and play at Walt Disney World.
