Report: DeMarre Carroll gets buyout from Spurs, plans to sign with Rockets

Spurs, DeMarre Carroll, Rockets

DeMarre Carroll and the San Antonio Spurs have reached a buyout agreement, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Houston Rockets are the front-runners to sign Carroll:

Carroll only appeared in 15 games for the Spurs this season. He averaged 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds while shooting 31.0 percent from the field, 23.1 percent from beyond the arc and 60.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Now 33, Carroll has career NBA averages of 9.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 569 games with the Memphis Grizzlies, Rockets, Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets and Spurs.

The Rockets are 34-20 on the season. They need more stout defenders like Carroll since they traded Clint Capela and are playing small-ball moving forward.
