Report: Chris Paul may be back sooner rather than later

Chris Paul

The Houston Rockets’ Chris Paul experience has lasted for just one game so far this season, but the point guard just dropped some clues signifying that he could be back directing traffic on the floor soon.

According to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, Paul said that Houston head coach Mike D’Antoni is raring to play him and that his being reinserted back into the lineup could come very soon.

“Shoot, Coach told me I was going to play tomorrow,” Paul said. “I don’t know.

“I’m working, getting there. Very tough (to be patient,) very tough. I can only go as fast as they’ll let me.”

After being involved in a blockbuster trade in the summer that included him in a package of players and draft picks to Houston from the Los Angeles Clippers, Paul has played in just one game in Rockets uniform. That’s in the team’s season opener, a 122-121 win over the Golden State Warriors. Paul had four points versus the defending champions to go with 10 assists and eight rebounds by has never played again because of a bruised knee.

Paul, however, has been reportedly ramping up his training of late, which he hopes to put him in line to play sometime this month.

Paul, who went through shooting drills on Saturday, said he has been swimming or boxing every other day. D’Antoni said there have been no setbacks, but the Rockets are determined to hold out Paul until he is 100 percent.

There’s no clear date as to when Paul is expected to return, but there seems to be no need to rush him with the Rockets going 7-3 to start the 2017-18 campaign.
