Pelican’ Lonzo Ball speaks on improving his perimeter shot after hitting 7 triples vs. Rockets

Pelicans, Lonzo Ball

New Orleans Pelicans guard Lonzo Ball drained seven 3-pointers in their win over the Houston Rockets on Sunday. After the game, Ball shared that he is constantly working on his new jump shot, noting that he understands it takes a lot of time and effort to perfect it.

Over the weekend, Ball made 11 3-pointers out of 20 attempts. In the Pelicans’ upset win over the Rockets, he finished with a career-high 27 points, along with 10 rebounds, eight assists and two steals.

Gone are the days when Ball had an awkward shooting form where he would seemingly fling the ball from his left. This certainly caught the eye of various critics who noted that Ball needs to fix his jump shot as soon as possible if he wants to be an elite player in the league.

Ball’s vision and passing were what attracted NBA scouts early on. His shooting, however, is another matter. When the time comes that he perfects his shot, the Pelicans guard may just turn hush the critics who have been calling him a bust.

In his first year with the Pelicans, Ball has been doing relatively good. Like many young players, consistency has been the main challenge for him. But there have been a few nights where he has filled the stat sheet and showcased what he can do.

Lonzo Ball averaged 10.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists in his first two season with the Los Angeles Lakers. He also shot 38.0 percent from the field, 31.5 percent from deep and 43.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Meanwhile, in the 25 games he has played for the Pelicans entering Sunday’s game, he has averaged 10.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists. His shooting clip from beyond the arc has particularly improved, as he is now making 34. 2 percent of his shots.
