P.J. Tucker thinks Chris Paul will be more like a ‘terrible coach’ than a ‘good chearleader’ in Game 6 vs. Warriors

The Houston Rockets came out victorious in Game 6 over the defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, but also suffered a devastating blow to their own title hopes when star point guard Chris Paul went down with what looked like a hamstring injury late and couldn’t finish the game.

After the game, the team confirmed that Paul suffered a hamstring strain, effectively putting his status for the rest of the series in jeopardy. When ESPN’s Marc Spears caught up with him as he was exiting the Toyota Center, Paul made it sound like there was no way he was going to miss Game 6 on Saturday night in Oakland.

Just saw injured Rockets guard Chris Paul jump into a Maybach outside the Toyota Center and he said: “I will be all right.” I next asked about Game 6, Paul said: “Oh yeah,” before being whisked away.

Unfortunately, Paul’s status for Game 6 was already revealed Friday morning, with a firm ‘OUT’ by his name.

Teammate P.J. Tucker, who has played very well this series, joked around and called Paul more of a terrible coach than a good cheerleader off the bench.

Asked if Chris Paul would be a good cheerleader, P.J. Tucker said “Uh, more like a terrible coach than a good cheerleader.”

Paul has performed well in the postseason averaging 21.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.5 three-pointers per game on 46 percent shooting from the field and 37.4 percent from beyond the arc.

The hope is that Paul gets enough treatment on his leg on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and the early parts of Monday before Game 7 tips off on Monday night back in Houston.
