Official Rockets Twitter account using James Harden’s birthday for retweets

James Harden, Rockets

The Houston Rockets heavily depend on James Harden. He’s the main ingredient in Mike D’Antoni’s offense and without him, the Rockets wouldn’t be one of the best teams in the NBA.

But now the organization is depending on Harden for more than just his ability in the pick-and-roll. The team’s Twitter account wished the MVP a happy birthday, but they fished for retweets in the process. Fishing for retweets is never a good look. Perhaps the Rockets’ social media team felt they could get away with this one because it was the MVP’s big day.

Harden turns 29 on Sunday. This is a good time to remember that the shooting guard is in the prime of his career. The six-time All-Star has achieved a slew of individual accolades, but he’s still looking to achieve the ultimate goal — a championship.

It hasn’t helped that the prime of Harden’s career is coinciding with one of the most dominant dynasties in the history of the NBA in the Golden State Warriors. Harden’s Rockets may have a title or two if not for the Warriors. At the very least they would have an appearance in the NBA Finals.

During the 2018 Western Conference Finals, it looked like Harden and the Rockets would finally get past Golden State. But Chris Paul went down with a hamstring injury in Game 5 and the Warriors took Game 6 and Game 7 to break the hearts of everyone in Houston.

There’s no doubt that Harden and Co. are motivated and ready to take another shot at the Warriors. He’s another year older, and perhaps 29 is the year that Harden gets over the hump.
