Nick Young seems receptive to the idea of playing with Rockets

Nick Young

With the Golden State Warriors opting to go younger given that their nucleus is getting up there in age, the reigning NBA champions have decided to part ways with centers Zaza Pachulia and JaVale McGee, while David West and Nick Young are expected to follow suit.

While West’s free agency prospects looks dimmer with big men of his ilk becoming less desirable, Young’s unconscionable shooting is still an asset to most teams needing some instant offense off the bench. Some teams that have expressed interest on the 33-year-old are the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Cleveland Cavaliers, however, the Houston Rockets appear to be the most ardent suitor, and Swaggy P’s interest seems mutual too.

On our recent Instagram update about the conference finalist eyeing the former Warrior, Young’s account “swaggyp1” is one of the many to like the post.

Swaggy State of Mind

That’s good news for the Rockets.

The colorful 11-year veteran only played 17 minutes per game for the Warriors last season and his numbers were understandably down as a result of it, with just 7.3 points, a rebound, and barely any assists or steals per game. He did shoot 41.2 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from behind the arc which are more or less, his typical averages.

With forwards Trevor Ariza and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute departing for the Phoenix Suns and L.A. Clippers respectively, the Rockets are starving for some dependable swingmen. Young clearly won’t be able to replace the defensive contributions of either player, but the team expects the career 37.6 percent 3-point shooter to be able to stretch the floor whenever James Harden sucks in the defense with his penetration.
