NBA news: Rajon Rondo suspended 3 games, punishments also handed out to Chris Paul, Brandon Ingram

Rajon Rondo, Chris Paul, Brandon Ingram

There was a huge brawl Saturday night in the Los Angeles Lakers-Houston Rockets game at Staples Center involving Rockets All-Star point guard Chris Paul, Lakers guard Rajon Rondo and small forward Brandon Ingram. The NBA has reviewed the incident and handed out some hefty suspensions Sunday.

Paul will be suspended two games, Rondo will be suspended three games, and Ingram will be suspended four games, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

After Rajon Rondo seemingly spit in Chris Paul’s face in the fourth quarter, Paul put his finger in Rondo’s eyes, and Rondo punched Paul with his left hand. The two point guards went after each other for a few seconds, and Brandon Ingram came in and took a blind side shot at Paul before Lakers superstar LeBron James was able to pull Paul away from the scrum.

Ingram actually started the whole fight after pushing reigning MVP James Harden, and then he came in with the cheap shot on Paul. That’s why it’s not surprising he’s getting suspended for the most games. Just an overall bad look for Ingram, who has spent time working out with Paul in the past during the offseason.

Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo have had beef for years, with Paul Pierce saying Saturday the two guys haven’t liked each other for 10 years. Still, there should never be violence on the court. NBA games are a family atmosphere. There are kids at the games looking up to the players as role models. Hopefully, this is the last big fight incident of the 2018-19 season.
