Mike D’Antoni wants No. 1 seed, calls it ‘important’

Rockets

The Houston Rockets have proved that they are this year’s hottest team, currently possessing the best record in the league. After being embarrassed by the San Antonio Spurs last year in the postseason, the Rockets have rebounded quite nicely. In the off-season, the Rockets traded for Chris Paul, adding another playmaker to their roster. Surprisingly, Harden and Paul have worked together terrifically, and the Rockets are now being considered to be a true threat to the Golden State Warriors.

With the regular season quickly fading, the Rockets are beginning to focus on the postseason. Their goal is to win a championship, but in order to make their road much easier, they will have to secure homecourt advantage by holding the best record in the Western Conference.

So far, the Rockets are just one game ahead of the Warriors. The race for the best record in the West may go down to the last game of the season, but the Rockets are determined to win this race. According to San Antonio Express’ Tom Osborn, Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni believes that capturing the West’s first seed is important.

D’Antoni: “We want to get the number one seed. We think that’s important.” #Spurs face them again in April in possible 1-8 preview.

The Rockets have a good chance of holding their spot atop the Western Conference. However, it takes more than homecourt advantage to win a championship. Hopefully, the Rockets can hold on to the league’s best record and do their best to defeat the Warriors, and win a championship all in summer. It surely won’t be an easy task.
