Mike D’Antoni ‘pretty sure’ James Harden will play for Rockets vs. Timberwolves
Houston Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni is “pretty sure” his star shooting guard James Harden will be ready to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday after playing through a sore shoulder in a win over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, according to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle.
Harden’s shoulder soreness did little to hinder him from dropping another 30-point gem, extending his streak to 30 straight games scoring 30 or more points, one he would have ridden for two entire calendar months by Wednesday.
The Beard’s shoulder is reportedly feeling better and he could take part in practice today before going through shootaround before a road game against the Timberwolves.
D’Antoni didn’t think Harden’s stunning streak would end, even if his shoulder was bothering him, extending yet another day of the lifespan of GM Daryl Morey’s newly-grown beard.
“I didn’t think there was (any) way,” said D’Antoni. “He was amazing. But I think his shoulder is bothering him.”
Harden could head into the All-Star break scoring 30 in 31 straight games and potentially putting his Rockets in sole possession of the fourth seed in the West after tying the Portland Trail Blazers, who hold the tiebreaker.
The Blazers will have a tough home outing ahead against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, which could set Houston for a leapfrog attempt if Harden and company can muster a win in Minnesota.
