Mike D’Antoni opted not to show off beach body in Bahamas team photo
Mike D’Antoni has his work cut out for him this season. The head coach of the Houston Rockets is fresh off a very successful year in which his team almost knocked off the Golden State Warriors. But injuries and uncharacteristically poor shooting doomed Houston in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.
Since that game, the Rockets have lost two key contributors in Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute. They have added Carmelo Anthony, Brandon Knight, and Marquese Chriss. There are certainly questions surrounding the Rockets this season.
But D’Antoni is excited and he just wants everyone to buy into what they’re trying to do. He appeared on SiriusXM NBA Radio to discuss the upcoming season and he even talked about the trip that his team took to the Bahamas.

Frank Isola asked D’Antoni about whether he was offended by his team going to the Bahamas without him. D’Antoni corrected Isola and told him that he was in the Bahamas. Scalabrine asked if he wasn’t in the picture because he didn’t want to take off his shirt and hilarity ensued. D’Antoni’s full statement reads:
“We just gotta get everybody to buy in, and they have. And so far, so good. Just trying to get better at it…I was there. I just wasn’t in the picture…No, you did not want to see that. They’d be going, ‘No. Put that back on there.’”
Mike D’Antoni is one of the most innovative coaches in the league. If there’s anyone who can figure out a way to make this roster work, it’s him. Defensively, it could be an uphill battle, but offensively, this could be another high-octane attack.
