The Houston Rockets now find themselves in a precarious position with All-Star point guard Chris Paul dealing with nagging soreness in his left knee.

According to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle, head coach Mike D’Antoni voiced that he doesn’t want to rush Paul back from the injury until he’s completely healed.

“It wasn’t responding as quickly as we wanted,” D’Antoni said. “I’m thinking he could be back next day, next day and it wasn’t that way. Right now, day-to-day, week-to-week, whatever you want to call it.

“We’re going to hold him out until it’s completely well. There really is no timetable on it. We’re going to make sure it’s 100 percent well. It hard to put a timetable on it. If it is (a month-long absence) it is. We’re equipped to win, anyway. Obviously, we want him back as soon as he can, but we’re not going to bring him back until he’s completely healthy because we don’t want him limping or not feeling it later on.”

There is are reports that the 32-year-old could be sidelined up to a month from the injury that has become more serious than expected. The fact that it hasn’t improved is a telling sign in D’Antoni’s eyes that the team and Paul must be patient with the recovery process.

He had originally suffered the injury during preseason action back on Oct. 11 after he collided with Memphis Grizzlies veteran guard Mario Chalmers. He was able to play in the season opener against the Golden State Warriors, but his play was affected by the ailment as he scored just four points on 2-of-9 shooting from the field along with recording 11 assists and rebound rebounds.

It is clearly a fluid situation as there is no exact timetable on when Paul will be able to fully recover from the injury. However, it should warrant a close eye from the Rockets moving forward.
