Mike D’Antoni calls T.J. McConnell a ‘pain in the butt’

Just last week, the Houston Rockets found out first hand that the Philadelphia 76ers are no pushovers, and are starting to live up to their label as a team of the future. Mike D’Antoni’s squad were lucky to escape with the win on their first meeting, thank to a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Eric Gordon, who broke the hearts of the Philly faithful and the Sixers.

Ahead of their second meeting Monday, which the Sixers won, D’Antoni identified guard T.J McConnell as a “pain in the butt.”

As Markelle Fultz continues to recover from a shoulder injury, T.J. McConnell has seen increased playing time. He has responded positively for the Sixers, and even with his pedestrian scoring average of 5.7 points, he makes up for it with his solid playmaking and hustle as proven by his 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game. His hustle and energy have been infectious to his teammates as well, feeding off from his lead.

In the latest Sixers win over the Rockets, McConnell tallied 11 points, five assists, a steal, and two blocks.
