The Houston Rockets have gotten off to a blazing start to this season holding the best mark in the Western Conference with a 17-4 record through the first 21 games.

Prior to Sunday’s game, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton voiced that he believes the Rockets are playing the best basketball in the league, per ClutchPoints’ Ryan Ward.

Entering Sunday night, the Rockets boasted the league’s second-best scoring offense at 113.9 points per game. They have won by double-digits 13 times this season, including by 20 or more points on seven occasions. The Rockets have also had at least two players score 20-plus points in 18 of the 21 games this season where they possess a 14-4 mark, including being 6-0 in the instances where three players reach that feat.

Much of this success has come behind their 3-point prowess, leading the NBA with 16.2 made 3-pointers in 44.4 attempts per contest. This has pushed them to hit at least 18 3-pointers in each of the past six games, which is the longest streak in league history.

The Rockets have been led by their dynamic All-Star duo of James Harden and Chris Paul, who have helped make them into a more dangerous offensive juggernaut that has already topped the likes of the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers. This hot start could be the beginning of a strong campaign that makes them a legitimate title contender in the Western Conference.
