Luc Mbah A Moute, Gerald Green to take over minutes after myriad of absences

The Houston Rockets will be without some of their key players for tonight’s Western Conference clash against the Oklahoma City Thunder, missing the likes of sharpshooter Ryan Anderson, and new additions Joe Johnson and Brandan Wright.

In their absence, Luc Mbah A Moute will see more playing time at the power forward spot and Gerald Green will see extended minutes at small forward, acting as Johnson’s immediate replacement.

“I get confused in all the positions now; one, two, three, four, five,” Mbah a Moute said, according to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle. “I guess it’s a good thing to be able to play different positions. I think that’s something this team has, the ability to be versatile. We have guys who can play multiple positions. That’s one of our strengths, especially defensively when we switch and do what we do well.”

“I guess Tuesday I’ll be playing at the four, but when you look at it, the way we play, two, three, four sometimes one are interchangeable. There are spots on the floor we have to fill. From there, Chris (Paul) and James (Harden) make plays. Except for Clint (Capela), who is really big, diving and catching lobs, sometimes everybody is interchangeable.”

Mbah A Moute has proven a versatile player and an excellent defender, which would prove ultimately crucial in a game against a team with such high firepower.

Green will provide the shooting the Rockets had expected from Johnson, as Houston shot merely 12-of-37 from distance in their Christmas meeting with the Thunder, which they lost, still missing Paul in the lineup with an injury.
