LeBron James says he gave little consideration to joining Rockets
LeBron James is a Los Angeles Laker, but it wasn’t always a sure thing. There was speculation that James would stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers or potentially sign with a team like the Philadelphia 76ers or the Houston Rockets.
But according to James, “Not much” thought was put into signing with the Rockets over the summer.
LeBron James on how much consideration he gave to joining the Houston Rockets this offseason: “Not much”

It looks like James made the right decision in choosing the Lakers. Los Angeles is 17-10 this season which is good enough for fifth in the Western Conference. Houston, on the other hand, is 12-14 and 14th in the West. The Lakers are still developing chemistry and should only improve from this point. Houston is still trying to regain the magic touch they had last season, but they haven’t shown any modicum of consistency this season.
James’ lack of consideration for Houston in the offseason is further proof that L.A. was one of the only destinations that had a chance at landing James in the offseason. It couldn’t have been easy for James to leave Cleveland, but other than remaining with the Cavs, it doesn’t sound like LeBron James was interested in many places outside of L.A. and Cleveland.
The Lakers and the Rockets will meet for the first time since the infamous brawl between Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo, and Brandon Ingram. Unfortunately for fans, Rondo and Ingram are both out with injuries so we won’t get to see any fireworks on the court.
