Lakers’ LeBron James lauds Reggie Bullock’s play vs. Rockets

LeBron James, Reggie Bullock, Lakers

When LeBron James blesses your moves, you know you’ve made it, and the latest player to be blessed by The King is new Los Angeles Lakers swingman Reggie Bullock:

It’s somewhat amusing to hear LeBron James speak so highly of Reggie Bullock, especially since Bullock called out James in an old tweet that resurfaced shortly after he’d signed to the Lakers. Of course, the two players are teammates on the Lakers now, so that’s all behind them.

There’s a reason that Bullock is right next to James: because the man can play ball. Specifically, he can hit jumpers, and that’s exactly the type of energy James needs in order to really perform at his best:

He has been particularly impressive on catch-and-shoot opportunities, scoring 6.1 points per game in this offense. Only three players (Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Lauri Markkanen) have been better in that category this season. Bullock could convert catch-and-shoot attempts easily when playing alongside James. Defenders zero in on James and have to account for him at all times, leaving his teammates open for quick catch-and-shoot looks. Bullock was also one of the most explosive scorers on dribble handoffs last season. He scored 171 points on this play type, which ranked No. 6 overall in the NBA.

Last season, the Lakers ranked last overall in catch-and-shoot attempts. The roster lacked shooting coming into this season, which is why Los Angeles acquired Reggie Bullock at the trade deadline to address those issues.
