L2M report says correct call made on both of James Harden’s offensive fouls

James Harden, Marcus Smart

The NBA featured a marquee matchup on Thursday night between the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets. Needless to say, the game certainly fit the billing after a controversial ending involving Houston Rockets superstar guard James Harden and Celtics guard Marcus Smart.

With the game down to the wire, Smart managed to draw not one, but two offensive fouls on Harden to essentially seal the victory. According to Adam Wexler of KPRC-TV Sports, the NBA’s official last two-minute report has since confirmed the calls that were made, however, some other revelations have since been made as well:

While the contact made by Harden is undeniable, the missed calls also played a huge factor in the Celtics win. That said, there may be some merit to his critiques of the short-handed officiating crew that night.

The true deciding factor in Boston’s victory was when veteran center Al Horford managed to get away with a travel on the game-winning shot. In all fairness, the violation was a bit difficult to catch on the first glance, however, Horford can be seen picking up his pivot foot on the in-bounds pass from guard Terry Rozier upon further review.

Regardless, such bang-bang plays are a regular occurrence. The Celtics just happened to be the beneficiaries this time around.
