Sam Dekker will remain with the Los Angeles Clippers at least until 2019 after it was reported by Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders that the team has picked up their option on the Los Angeles Clippers forward.

Dekker landed on the Clippers’ roster last June when the Houston Rockets traded him along with Patrick Beverley, and Louis Williams among others for Chris Paul. He was drafted 18th overall by the Rockets in 2015 but was later viewed as expendable by Houston when presented with the opportunity to snag a future Hall of Famer point guard in Paul.
Before he was traded to Los Angeles, Dekker averaged 6.5 points and 3.7 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game last season, a dramatic increase from the 2.0 minutes per game the Rockets allotted him in his rookie year.
With the Clippers, however, Dekker seemed to be back to square one, as he finds his role diminished to a mere reliever of Danilo Gallinari for 6.4 minutes per contest.
Still, the former Wisconsin Badgers star, who along with Frank Kaminsky, led the program to back-to-back Final Four appearances, is just 23 and will have plenty of time to improve.
