Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet react to Raptors’ rock-bottom Rockets loss

The Houston Rockets came into their matchup with Toronto on a massive losing streak. Surprisingly, they were the ones who came out as victors, extending the Raptors’ own run of misery. Following Toronto’s disappointing loss to Houston, Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet reacted to the team’s performance, via TSN’s Josh Lewenberg.

Heading into Monday’s contest versus the Raptors, the Rockets had lost 20 consecutive games dating back to February 6. But luckily for Houston, they were able to face a team that is having just as many issues as them.

With a loss to the Rockets on Monday, the Raptors have now lost nine straight games, giving them a dismal 17-26 record on the season. Their current record places them as the No. 11 seed in the Eastern Conference and they are in legitimate danger of missing the playoffs this season.

At the same time, both Lowry and Norman Powell have been mentioned in trade talks ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline. While both of them have received interest in the trade market, it remains to be seen if Toronto is interested in moving on from them.

Besides having COVID-19 issues this season, the Raptors have been unable to stop anyone on the defensive end. Amid the team’s nine-game skid, Toronto has allowed an average of 119 points per game, which includes games against teams like the Detroit Pistons, the Charlotte Hornets, the Chicago Bulls, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Rockets.

There isn’t much time for the Raptors to get back on track this season as there are only 29 games remaining on their schedule. Both Lowry and VanVleet are hoping that Toronto can get back in the win column on Wednesday versus the Denver Nuggets.
