Kobe Bryant has Rockets, Warriors as his ‘top two favorites’ heading into NBA playoffs

Kobe Bryant

Former Los Angeles Lakers scoring machine Kobe Bryant has made his picks known as to which teams he thinks are the current favorites to win it all this year. There are no surprises, however, as the Black Mamba revealed these squads to be the Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors, per Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints.

Kobe Bryant: “I like Houston and Golden State, pending their health, as being my top two favorites. Like I said, I kind of stay out of the business of predictions.”

If anything, Kobe put the Rockets ahead of the defending NBA champions, though, it was never made clear whether he gave Houston the shorter odds between the two teams to win the NBA championship.

The Rockers have been a mild surprise this season. With Chris Paul coming over to H-Town from the L.A. Clippers via a trade, his fit with the team was thoroughly questioned considering he was about to team up with James Harden, a ball-dominant playmaker just like him. But it did not take long for Paul and the Rockets to silence the naysayers, as they immediately started to win a bunch of games with Paul and Harden perfectly coexisting along each other.

As for the Warriors, they have been struggling of late, even losing by 40 points to the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, but they are expected to flip the switch come the playoffs. One point of concern for the Warriors right now is Stephen Curry’s status. Curry remains sidelined with a knee issue, and while he’s bound to rejoin the team at some point in the playoffs, it remains to be seen how healthy the two-time MVP is going to be.

Speaking of odds, the Warriors still own the shortest future odds to take home the Larry O’Brien hardware this June with a price of around -110, while the Rockets are labelled +130 to win it all.
