Kobe Bryant creates BodyArmor ads featuring James Harden, Kristaps Porzingis

BodyArmor; a sports drink that rivals market titans like Gatorade and Powerade, has taken its latest stride to take on the giants with four ads set to premier today, written and directed by the Oscar-winning Kobe Bryant.

The ads feature MVP frontrunner James Harden of the Houston Rockets and third-year forward Kristaps Porzingis, along with WNBA star Skylar Diggins-Smith and Los Angeles Angels centerfielder Mike Trout.

Each separate ad will delve into archaic practices, asking if they would do so today, featuring the tag line: “Thanks Gatorade, we’ll take it from here.”

Harden and Porzingis’ ads are set to debut tonight as part of TNT’s playoff coverage. Here’s a look at them.

This one features Harden’s signature head tilt, making it that much more comical and relatable, given the league’s fashion sense being at an all-time high.

This one perhaps proved the toughest to nail down, with Porzingis having to try 15 different times in hopes to catch a trained pigeon, according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell.

BodyArmor peaked in sales in 2017, becoming one of the fastest-growing sports drinks in the market. The brand will be adding 20,000 new retail locations to the list of available outlets in April – including 7-Eleven, Walmart and Walgreens stores nationwide.

Propelled by Bryant; the third-leading investor in the company, these ads are certainly the most eager in nature, using likable household names and a catchy tag line to take a real shot at their competitors.
