Kevin Durant supports James Harden as this season’s MVP

James Harden has arguably been one of the best players in the NBA for the last few years. After being traded to the Houston Rockets in 2012, Harden evolved into a superstar overnight and has carried the team into a league prominence.

However, while he has been an MVP candidate for the last three years, Harden has been unlucky in that regard. Of course, in 2014 then-Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant captured the MVP award after scoring 32 points per game in a super-efficient year.

In the following season, the Golden State Warriors became the league’s best team and Stephen Curry won the top individual plum over Harden, who led an injured Rockets team to the playoffs.

In 2016, Harden had a spectacular year and led the Rockets to the third-best record in the Western Conference. But Curry had the most efficient shooting season in modern league history and won the MVP award unanimously, mind you.

Last year, more history was made and Russell Westbrook averaged a triple-double, becoming the second player to do so since Oscar Roberson. Interestingly, Harden was again snubbed for the award.

Now, Harden is having his best season in the NBA, currently leading the league in scoring and the Rockets to the best record in the NBA. Many believe that it is Harden’s time to win the MVP award this year. One of those people includes a former teammate in Durant.

Harden may actually be on his way to his first MVP. However, his main goal should be to dethrone the Warriors’ as the new NBA champions. Durant probably knows this and is probably looking forward to battling him potentially in the postseason.
