Kevin Durant isn’t satisfied with Warriors’ Game 1 performance

The Golden State Warriors managed to get off on the right foot with a 119-106 win versus the Houston Rockets in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. However, small forward Kevin Durant is not satisfied with the team’s performance to start the series.

It was an impressive win considering the Warriors were underdogs going into Game 1. Although they got the victory, Durant does not feel Golden State is on their A-game just yet, via NBA TV:

“I don’t know if we’re at our peak. I think we could be better,” Durant said. “Stakes are high, we’re playing in the Western Conference Finals against the best team in the league, No. 1 seed, and MVP on their team.”

Although Durant was n0t satisfied with the team’s performance, he can take solace in the fact that he enjoyed a stellar outing. The Warriors’ star registered 37 points on an efficient 14-of-27 shooting from the field. More importantly, he was able to establish a matchup problem early on which paid huge dividends for Golden State down the stretch.

However, it seems he is well-aware that the team will need to step it up if they are going to take advantage of the early series lead. The Warriors are squaring off against perhaps the most formidable opponent they have faced and will continue to face this season. Durant’s stellar performance was able to alleviate the attention from guard James Harden’s big night. That said, the rest of the team is going to need to find their rhythm soon if they are going to take it to the next level like Durant suggests they could.
