Kenneth Faried happy to prove he’s ‘not washed up’ with Rockets

Kenneth Faried, Rockets

When the Houston Rockets claimed Kenneth Faried off waivers after the Brooklyn Nets waived him back in January, they were optimistic that they can get the most out of him. The eight-year veteran repaid the team’s trust by being the energy guy whether as a starter or coming off the bench.

Although Faried has been underwhelming in the playoffs so far, he still believes he can still contribute to the Rockets’ success.

In a recent interview with Jenny Dial Creech of the Houston Chronicle, Faried said he’s been very satisfied with his role with the Rockets. Moreover, he’s thankful for the opportunity to prove that he can still play at a high level.

“I get to show that I am still capable of starting in this league. I am not a player who is sitting at the end of the bench and doesn’t get any minutes. I am not washed up.”

Kenneth Faried averaged 12.9 points and 8.2 rebounds while logging in 24.4 minutes in 35 games for the Rockets in the regular season. He provided the team with much-needed rebounding and defense, especially when starting center Clint Capela was out with an injury.

Faried needed a fresh start, but he got more than that with the Rockets.

What he has right now is an opportunity to win a championship, something that he never got during his stints with the Denver Nuggets and the Brooklyn Nets. He’s making the most out of this brief stint with Houston because he might not be able to get another one next season.
