Jordan Adams signs with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers

In his attempt to get back in the NBA, veteran guard Jordan Adams has taken the next step in that process after officially joining the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the G League affiliate to the Houston Rockets.

Adams had agreed to a contract with the G League less than two weeks ago where he had to waited to see which team would pick him up. He has been out of the NBA since the 2015-16 season after he spent two years with the Memphis Grizzlies after being selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

His time with the franchise was cut short due to injuries, as he had undergone a few knee surgeries that kept him sidelined for the majority of his brief stay in Memphis. He had missed out of the first four games of his second season before persistent soreness in his knee that eventually required season-ending knee surgery. He was released by the team that following October prior to the 2016-17 campaign.

Adams has recently ramped up his efforts to continue his professional basketball career as he took part in a pair of tournaments over the last several months. This began with taking part in The Basketball Tournament with the Sons of Westwood team last summer. Most recently, he played with the Syrian team, Al Wahda Damascus, for the Dubai International Tournament where he averaged 18.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

Adams is set to report to the Vipers in the next few days to begin his G-league career. Rio Grande Valley is currently in second place in the Western Conference with a 29-14 record just a half-game behind the Santa Cruz Warriors with seven more games remaining in the regular season.
